KARTMASTERS - GRAND PRIX

Alex Quinn came into the Kartmasters Grand Prix with the aim to become a back-2-back GP Plate Winner. Competing in both the Mini Max and Junior Max Categories over 3 days of racing was a stern challenge on offer but Alex was up for it !

Alex was up with the leading pace all throughout testing, quick and consistent along with Coles teammate Sam Pooley. Confidence was high going into the racing.

However Quinn looked to be denied in the earlier heats, suffering some bad luck in heat one, and further more from the lead in the 2nd heat, left him outside the Top 10 in the 'Intermediate Classification'. Undeterred, Quinn stormed back to a dominant win in the wet 4th heat, taking the win by over 4 seconds, never challenged throughout in Mini Max.

A similar story nearly happened in Juniors, as he came home 4th and 3rd in his remaining heats, giving home P5 on the grid for the Pre-Finals in both classes.

The Pre-Finals were a hectic battle as always at Kartmasters, with many people seeing it as a last chance saloon to make it through the pack. Alex came home in 4th place in Mini Max, but unfortunate contact left him 10th in Junior Max.

Into the Grand Prix itself: Alex made his intentions clear from the start in Mini Max, with a bold opener getting himself into the lead. With the wind at PF International being particularly high this weekend, the slipstream was a massive advantage, with Quinn unable to break away enough from the chasing pack.

An enthralling 5 way fight for the way over 15 minutes of racing saw multiple lead changes, with Sam Pooley and Alex emerging in 1st and 2nd positions at the flag, taking a 1-2 for Coles Racing.

The Junior Max Grand Prix saw an original fantastic start be thwarted by a Red Flag at the first corner. After it was re-gridded, Quinn was unfortunate to be knocked down the order, ruining a chance of repeating his Mini Max heroics. A spirited fightback bought him back up to 14th at the flag,

Alex Quinn reflecting back on his hectic weekend at Kartmasters:

"I really enjoyed Kartmasters at the weekend, although I didn't win the the GP I was still very happy with second in Mini, well done Sam for the win! Thanks to my two awesome mechanics in Mini and Junior Max, Sam Quinn and Mike Adams, everyone in Coles racing and my two grid girls Jade Dennis and Megan Coleman!!"
