NINTH FOR QUINN IN REVERSED RACE TWO
Alex Quinn maintained his good start to the season with a ninth place finish in a heavily disrupted second race in the soon-to-be renamed British F4 Championship.
Starting seventh from the reversed grid, following his maiden car racing victory the previous day, Quinn benefited from two cars, including his Fortec Motorsports team-mate Ross Martin, beaching in the gravel at Redgate on the second tour. That forced a safety car to be called.
The cars were released to race once again with over seven minutes remaining, and Quinn soon took a trip through the gravel at Coppice, demoting him to 15th place and last of the remaining runners.
But Quinn soon began driving back up the field, and aided by other drivers colliding with each other, he rose to 10th place and on the tail of JTR’s Patrik Matthiesen.
The Danish racer defended well until the final lap, when Quinn grabbed ninth place at the final chicane ahead of the chequered flag.
JHR’s Sennan Fielding scored race victory from pole position, with Carlin duo Petru Florescu and Max Fewtrell completing the podium.
Quinn will start the third and final race of the weekend from second place on the grid, following Saturday’s qualifying session.
