PODIUM FOR QUINN IN OULTON RACE TWO
Alex Quinn continued the impressive start to his rookie car racing season with a third place finish in race two of the F4 British Championship round at Oulton Park.
Having scored fourth place in the opening race of the weekend, Quinn started from fifth position in the reversed grid second encounter and made a good start to hold his place around the opening laps.
When Double R Racing’s Zane Goddard broke his suspension and collided with the tyre wall at Knickerbrook while leading the race, it promoted Quinn to fourth place.
While managing his tyres and attempting to avoid the dirty air of those ahead, Quinn attacked on the final lap of the race. He benefited when the two closest drivers ahead, third placed Max Fewtrell and his Carlin team-mate James Pull battled for position around the Island Hairpin.
Both pushed each other wide with Quinn braking later and driving up the inside of Fewtrell and defending his third position to the chequered flag.
“Coming out of Cascades I had to get a good exit as [Petru] Florescu was right on my tail,” Quinn said. “He was still there as I headed to the hairpin, so I braked as late as I could.
“Fewtrell had to do the same ahead of me to make his move for second place, but I think he outbraked himself under my pressure.
“He found himself in a tricky position tussling with James Pull just to stay on track. That allowed me to drive up the inside and take the advantage.”
