QUINN BANKS SIXTH AT SNETTERTON

Alex Quinn took advantage of a useful starting position to bank useful championship points with a sixth place finish in race two of the F4 British Championship round at Snetterton.

After an earlier incident-affected qualifying session, Quinn managed to recover to finish in ninth place from the back of the grid.

He therefore started the reversed grid race two, from the position in which he finished the earlier race, and was intent on further making up for his qualifying error.

Racing Steps Foundation-backed Quinn started well to consolidate his place on a dry track, and improved a place without effort as Double R Racing’s Zane Goddard was demoted having hit a kerb, diverting him temporarily off the track.

Quinn maintained his position for a substantial remainder of a stagnant race, until a safety car was called for with eight minutes remaining when the Arden machine of Jack Martin retired at Agostini.

On the restart, the field became less sedate, with Arden team-mates Luis Leeds and Rafael Martins collided as Leeds made an attempt to improve up to second place, instead ruling both out of the race.

With Quinn promoted to sixth place without having to make any overtaking manoeuvres, he was unable to improve further with the cars ahead tussling for position, with the Carlin trio of Petru Florescu, James Pull and Devlin DeFrancesco locking out the podium.
