QUINN SPUN TO 15TH IN NORFOLK FINALE

Alex Quinn was forced to settle for a 15th place finish after being spun to the back of the grid on the second lap of the final F4 British Championship race at Snetterton in Norfolk.

The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver, who earlier in the weekend had scored ninth and sixth place respective finishes, made a good getaway from his 19th place start on the grid, to progress up to 12th on the opening lap.

However on the second tour, Quinn gave room to Carlin’s James Pull up the inside of the Montreal hairpin, but on the exit Quinn maintained his advantage until he was tagged from behind by Pull.

The contact spun him around, and Quinn was able to continue at the back of the field after keeping the car running.

From there, Quinn faced an uphill task and despite passing two backmarkers, he was left to come home in 15th place.

“I was happy with the opening lap up to 12th place,” Quinn said.

“At Montreal on lap two, I saw that [James] Pull had tried to come up my inside so I left him room around the rest of corner.

On the exit, I was slightly on the grass anyway and he hit me into a spin.

“I had really good pace too which was frustrating as I couldn’t demonstrate it further up the grid and really challenge in the top 10.”

Quinn was still positive despite his disappointing qualifying and race three result, and is looking forward to the next round at Knockhill.

“I had good pace but a bit of bad luck hit us this weekend,” he added. “I’ve learnt a lot from starting at the back though. We were quick at Knockhill in official testing earlier in the season and the team was quick there last year too, so I’m looking to some positive results and championship points there.”
