QUINN TOILS TO SEVENTH AT BRANDS

Alex Quinn scored a second Rookie class victory at Brands Hatch, but it was a more disappointing overall result for the RSF-backed youngster.

Quinn, who earlier finished eighth in the opening affair, started the reversed grid race two from second place.

But with all cars on slick tyres and rain beginning to fall on the grid, Quinn struggled to get off the line and immediately lost several places. He fell to ninth place for a large proportion of the race, until a safety car interlude.

That helped Quinn, who until that point was too far behind to attack the pack ahead.

At the restart, the rainfall worsened, and with cars falling off the track, a red flag stopped proceedings.

With all cars changing to wet tyres in the pit lane, it was decided that there be a full restart from the grid with eight minutes remaining.

Quinn once again struggled with his starting procedure, but made up for it in the final laps, moving up two places to finish in seventh.

“My starts have really been an issue this weekend and prevented me from finishing higher up,” Quinn said.

“I had lots of wheelspin at the start and restart of the race.

If I can sort the starts, I’ll be on the money and feel that I’ll challenge for overall podiums.”
