SUPER ONE SERIES - ROUND 2

Round 2 of the Super One British Championship saw Alex bounce back from the disappointment at Round 1 at Rowrah in the Lake District, as the series travelled south, to the Buckmore Park Circuit in Kent.

Judicial proceedings at Round 1 involving Alex and driver No 88 delayed the report for this round and regrettably despite a very detailed report by an expert track official, on board camera evidence was deemed non conclusive and the incident was reported officially as a racing incident.

A nerve wracking qualifying looked ominous as Alex was only achieving times outside of the top 10 in his group as the 5 minute clock ticked down.

With less than a minute to go Alex carefully and methodically positioned himself on the track to achieve a pole setting time on the last lap bringing sighs of relief to the team.

Being in the first timed qualifying group, it was only to be expected that in the conditions, the second group would be faster and Alex had to settle for 5th quickest time when amalgamated together.

Getting good starts in the newly introduced standing starts for all British Championship Karting is now a key element for racing success.

Alex made good progress in his two heats finishing 4th and 2nd overall.

Final 1 and Alex started on P3 and looked in control in the race taking the flag in first position securing the all important pole position for the main final.

In Final 2, Alex commanded his lead at the start and though losing it several times during the race, he never lost faith and charged back at the lead throughout the hot 15 minute final.

Jostling behind him several drivers gave Alex and the O plate winner a little breathing space and in the closing laps of the race, Alex extended his lead to allow him to drive undefensively to take a much earned and well deserved victory.

Alex now closes the gap on the leader to just 8 points and Alex now lies 2nd overall in the championship.

Alex takes the opportunity to thank his partners, M&J Builders, Harlequinns Leisure, Tippers Classic Number Plates, Watson Fuels, North Coast Commercials, FreeM UK and MDM Designs for their continued support.

Coles Team boss, Adrian Coles was overjoyed with Alex's result this weekend putting him back in contention.
