SUPER ONE SERIES - ROUND 4
Coles Racing Driver Alex Quinn came so close to a perfect weekend at Glan-Y-Gors Park in North Wales for the fourth round of the Super One British Championships in the Mini-Max Class. After showing great pace in testing, Alex delivered P2 on the grid in timed qualifying, which is where he started his heats.
Quinn followed up with two wins in his heats, both featuring perfectly timed overtakes to take control of the race with a lap to go.
Alex lined up on pole for the First Final after his perfect heats, which he duly converted to another victory as the race took place on a drying track after the early Sunday downpour.
The Grand Final however saw Alex lose out at the start dropping to P3, he stayed with the leading three as the race went on.
However as 2nd to 4th began to battle, Alex got caught up in an incident which resulted in dropping him back to 7th at the flag.
Unfortunately Alex was given a 5 place penalty for the previous incident.
The contact was unintentional, however the procedure had to be taken by the stewards.
This post-race decision demoted Alex to 12th place in the Grand Final classifications after the stewards deemed that Alex had gained an advantage.
The final result was unfortunate and very frustrating, after such a dominant performance over the weekend.
However the positives are there to be taken from the weekend away in Wales...
Alex has showed fantastic pace at every track he has visited this season, plus there are two more rounds remaining in the Super One Series!
He is still in a very strong position to fight for the British Title in his debut season of racing Mini-Max.
Alex is next out for Super One in two weeks time at Shenington. He is currently 2nd in the standings as he aims to make up the deficit on one of the UK's fastest tracks.
