WSK FINAL CUP
Alex Quinn once again starred for CRG in the KF-Junior Category, this time at the WSK Final Cup at Adria.
Another new track for Alex, but he took it in his stride early on. In the three 'Free Practice Sessions' starring well inside the top 10, only a couple of tenths off the ultimate pace.
Timed Qualifying started off well for Alex, again popping up right at the sharp end, unfortunately a late session shuffle saw Alex drop to 12th in his group. The second qualifying group followed out and benefited from slightly better track conditions, resulting in quicker times.
This left Alex starting 16th, 15th and 15th for his heats. On a short and twisty track, overtaking is tricky but do-able!
Alex managed to force his way through the pack in each heat, surviving some questionable defensive driving by some other individuals. Alex's heat results of 11th, 9th and 9th, including a fastest lap in his final heat, saw him classified 15th overall out of the 59 entries.
This meant he would start the first Pre-Final from 8th.
After starring in the Warm Up, setting the fastest time Alex was ready for the finals on Sunday.
Like Kartmasters, the WSK Final Cup is a one-off event, winner takes all scenario.
This was evident in the first Pre-Final, with lots of jostling and changes of positions. Alex survived what was around him to finish 7th at the flag, meaning he qualified for the overall KFJ Final.
Alex started the Grand Final from P14, after the grids were merged from the two Pre-Finals.
An intense fight through the top half of grid began, Alex managed to make great progress up through the tightly congested field, managing to take 9th on the final lap and very nearly 8th over the line. Alex setting a time only hundreds off the fastest lap!
HUGE THANKS TO ALL THE GUYS AT CRG, JORDAN LENNOX-LAMB AND MY MECHANIC KYLE MOORE!
Two races with CRG in KF-Junior have yielded two very impressive performance from Alex, who before the summer, had never even raced in a CRG or KFJ!
It was a huge learning curve and a pleasure to be working one of the best karting manufacturers in the world!
Attention now shifts to Valencia in a few weeks time for the Rotax Grand Finals, where Alex will represent the UK infront of the World!
A special thank you as well to all of Alex's supporters and sponsors, of which without Alex would not have been able to achieve what he has done this year.
